Cupcake Wars

This workshop will be a fun and exciting way for your child to learn to make cupcakes from scratch.  We will be exploring different cupcake decorating techniques using icings, fondant and anything that is safe to eat (and also peanut-free)!  This learning experience will be turned into a friendly competition to see who can make the best cupcake according to the judges!

 

 8 Bit: 1s, 0s & BASICs of Computers

8 Bit is back! With an onslaught of new apps and games meant to "look" 8bit, the old is new again. But what does that mean? 8 bity? Why do those games look, sound, and play the way they do? In this club we're going "Back to the Future," to the dawn of the personal computer. Using commodore 64s (and C64 emulators running on PCs,) students will be introduced to logic, BASIC coding, graphics,and sound. We'll break it down to the 1s and 0s and hopefully gain a true understanding of computer science.

 

Friendship Bracelets

Love. Hearts. Bracelets. In this workshop, students will learn how to make a variety of friendship bracelets. From beads, to rainbow loom, to tread, students will create something new everyday. The workshop will end with a friendship party full of fun, and (you guessed it) more bracelets. What's not to love?!

  

Spartan Agoge

Have you ever wanted to run an obstacle course like the ones you see on T.V.? Have you ever wanted to push your physical limits in a fun and safe environment? Then come train for a week like Spartan children by running a 1/2 mile, 1 mile or, 2 mile obstacle course. Each participant will earn a Spartan shoulder sport bag for all their hard work!

 

Fun with STEM!

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math? What happens when you combine all of these things together? Loads of fun is what! Campers will be building simple machines, experimenting with chemical reactions, and learning what happens. 

  

Mr. Mike's Dinner Bell

This workshop will teach your child how to prepare home-cooked meals from scratch. The menu will consist of several of Mr. Mike's favorite healthy and tasty meals. Mr. Mike will impart cooking skills that include grilling to soup making. Campers will be able to sample all the delicious food they cook and go home with a belly full of a culinary treat. As always, MLA is peanut free!

 

Whodunnit Mystery

Calling all detectives! In this workshop, students sharpen their investigative skills to solve a cold case mystery. Students will need to work together to uncover the truth of what really happened. Can you solve the mystery?  

 

Messy Masterpieces 2

 Returning for another round of fun with all new activities! Bring a change of clothes and prepare to get messy! We will be making Crayon Melt Canvases, soap Bubble Prints, and Tie Dye just to name a few!

 

Stop Action Theatre

Back by popular demand! Mr. Mike will guide campers in the art of Stop Motion movie making. Campers will learn about the Stop Action movie making process from script writing through editing. Who knows, maybe your camper will be the next Tim Burton (Nightmare Before Christmas), Wes Anderson (Fantastic Mr. Fox) or Nick Park (Wallace and Gromit).

 

 

 Messy Masterpieces 2

Tired of being yelled out for making a mess? Well Ms. Seese is going to give you a chance to make a mess...on purpose. Exploring all of the fun "messy" mediums that your parents won't let you do at home! Tye-dye, Splatter paint t-shirts, Paint Splotch Twister & more! Be prepared to get messy! (change of clothes is encouraged)

 

Slimy Science

Do you love making slime? In this workshop we will be making slime and experimenting with different ingredients. Which ingredients make slime stretchy or smooth? What happens when lotion is added to the mixture? Come to this workshop, make slime,and find all the answeres to these questions! At the end, you will make your own custom slime.

 

String, Nail, & Wood Art

We will be using wood, hammers, tack nails, and colored string to create beautiful pieces of art. There will be many designs to choose from including WV state outline, flowers, hearts, etc... Let your creativity run wild!

 

Princess Cooking

Welcome to the kitchens of the Princesses! We will be making many of their favorite recipes, such as Rapunzels' Biscuit Braids, Ariels' Seafoam Smoothie, and Belle's Bonjour Baguette! You will also receive an apron and will make a "Cooking Crown" and cookbook of all recipes. We will learn to set the table and eat what we make each day!

 

Clay Charms

 In this workshop you will learn how to create polymer clay charms that can be turned into key chains or jewelry. They will be perfect for personalizing your backpack, creating a unique piece of jewelry, or giving to someone as a gift. You will learn basic clay-sculpting skills, and will leave with handmade charms of your creation! 

Unicorns, Rainbows, & Glitter! Oh My!

Comic Camp

This workshop will explore the genre of graphic novels.  Students will read a variety of graphic novels and learn about story structure, page composition, pacing, character design and more.  Students will then create their own graphic novels that they will self-publish during the workshop.

 

Escape Room

In this workshop, students will experience as escape room, and then get to learn the details of how to make their own. By the end of the week, students will combine their talents to construct their own Escape Room. Are you up to the challenge?!

 

Steel Drums

Are you interested in learning a new instrument? In this workshop, students will learn how to play steel drums, as well as the history behind this family of this instruments. By the end of the week, students will preform a song in their first steel drum concert. Join us on this musical journey!
